Pentagon Meeting Reaffirms Support
Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at the Pentagon today. The meeting emphasised the United States’ strong commitment to Ukraine’s defense. Upcoming Meeting of Allies
The meeting takes place ahead of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) summit that is set to take place at Germany’s Ramstein Air Base the following week. This meeting will bring together nearly 50 allies and partners who are committed to supporting Ukraine. This will be the 24th meeting of the U.S.-led coalition focused on Ukraine’s defense.
At this upcoming meeting, partners will address Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs. A major focus will be on enhancing Ukraine’s air-defense capabilities. To protect against Russian drone and missile attacks. The coalition aims to provide Ukraine with the tools it needs to defend its territory and deter future aggression.
New U.S. Security Assistance Package
Last week, the US Defense Department unveiled a fresh plan to support Ukraine’s security. Valued at up to $125 million, this package includes key weapons and ammunition. It also provides important air-defense systems to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs. This marks the 64th provision of U.S. equipment to Ukraine since August 2021.
