In a dramatic statement that has grabbed international attention, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov has accused Ukraine of facing a deep political crisis fueled by corruption linked to Western financial aid. Speaking to the media, Peskov said that Ukraine has reportedly misused large amounts of money sent by the United States and European nations for the war effort, fueling instability within President Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration.
Peskov said that these corruption scandals around Western war funding are not just minor issues but are creating serious political turmoil in Kyiv. He suggested that officials in Washington and European capitals are beginning to question what will happen next in Ukraine given the alleged misuse of funds.
“All this corruption has existed and still exists. The flow of money provided for the war by the Americans and Europeans is a fact. And accordingly, probably now both in America and in European countries, people are asking what will happen tomorrow with the KF regime,” Peskov said, according to his remarks.
Political Turmoil in Kyiv
According to Peskov, widespread corruption scandals have triggered a profound political crisis in Ukraine. He stated that the situation is complex and unpredictable, making it difficult for anyone to determine how it will evolve.

He also criticized some of the key figures in Ukraine’s administration. In particular, Peskov singled out Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, questioning his qualifications and background. “There is no trust in such a person… Where did he come from? And what was he doing before he got this position?” Peskov asked. He further noted that some of the appointments in Kyiv, including Yermak’s, appear unusual, given the prior professional experience of the individuals involved.
Peskov suggested that the political instability in Ukraine is compounded by a shortage of skilled and effective personnel. While he acknowledged that purges and checks within the administration could be positive, he emphasized that Ukraine faces challenges in finding competent managers. According to him, these problems are affecting the overall functionality of the Ukrainian government, especially during the ongoing conflict.
Western Funds Under Fire
Peskov repeatedly stressed that alleged corruption centers on the money the United States and European countries provide for Ukraine’s war effort. He said that officials in the United States and Europe are now questioning the future of Kyiv’s government because of how it manages these funds.

He also drew comparisons between the pragmatic approaches of Russian and European leaders and the perceived inefficiency within the Ukrainian administration. “Putin and Orbin are quite pragmatic people. They speak openly about problems. They firmly stand on the positions of their own countries. Each defends the interests of their nation. For them, this is an absolute priority,” Peskov remarked.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has been experiencing notable changes in its leadership. Recently, Andriy Yermak submitted his resignation as head of the president’s office. The Ukrainian government confirmed that it is holding consultations to appoint a new leader who can keep the country strong amid ongoing war challenges.

Despite Peskov’s accusations, Ukrainian authorities say they are using Western funds to support the country’s military and national defense. The Ukrainian government has repeatedly underlined the importance of these resources for protecting the country amid ongoing Russian military operations.
The allegations from Peskov have sparked global attention and debate. International media outlets are closely following developments in Kyiv, while officials in Washington and Europe have yet to comment publicly on the accusations. The statements highlight the ongoing tensions between Moscow and Kyiv, both on the battlefield and in diplomatic arenas, amid a conflict that has now stretched into multiple years.
