China Slams U.S. Over Iran Airstrikes—Calls Bunker Bomb Attack “Grave Violation of Sovereignty”

China has sharply criticized the US and Israel for launching powerful airstrikes on three nuclear sites in Iran. The attack, which used advanced “bunker buster” bombs dropped by B-2 stealth aircraft, targeted key Iranian facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

China Strongly Condemns US Airstrikes on Iran

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, China’s UN representative expressed strong opposition to the military actions. The Chinese ambassador said the strike had severely violated Iran’s national sovereignty and escalated tension in the already unstable Middle East region.

According to Chinese officials, these attacks pose a serious threat to the international nuclear non-proliferation system. They accused the United States of ignoring international law and creating greater risk for civilians in the region. China also called on all countries involved to prioritise peace, avoid further violence, and act responsibly to prevent a larger crisis.

China, along with Russia and Pakistan, announced plans to submit a joint resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. The draft resolution, shared with UN members, aims to halt violence and protect innocent lives. The group has asked other UN countries to give their feedback by Monday evening.

UN Security Council Divided as Tensions Rise

The recent attack led to the third UN Security Council emergency meeting in just ten days. While all council members agreed that peace was important, there was a clear split in opinions. China and Russia defended Iran and condemned the US military action. On the other hand, the US and its allies supported Israel and blamed Iran for ongoing threats in the region.

Russia strongly criticised the US, calling the airstrikes dangerous and irresponsible. Its representative said the attack showed disrespect for the global community and international rules.

While China’s statements were more diplomatic, they still made it clear that the attack was not acceptable. Chinese officials urged the Security Council to take real steps and not just issue statements. They also said the Council must not remain silent during such a serious international crisis.

The joint resolution being prepared by China, Russia, and Pakistan will reportedly ask for a complete and permanent ceasefire. It will also seek a clear agreement to ensure Iran’s nuclear program remains peaceful. In return, it suggests removing all international and individual sanctions against Iran. However, such terms may be difficult for some Western countries to accept.

Global Reactions and Civilian Safety Concerns

In response to the situation, China said it had helped evacuate nearly 1,800 of its citizens from Iran and hundreds more from Israel. Chinese authorities said this action was taken to ensure the safety of civilians amid growing fears of wider conflict.

China Sends Stark Warning After Israel Hits Iran’s Nuclear Scientists

The United States defended its airstrike, calling it a necessary move to protect itself and its allies. American officials claimed that Iran had long posed a threat to peace and security in the Middle East. They argued that the recent strike was aimed at stopping further danger and that Iran’s nuclear plans could no longer be ignored.

Israel also praised the US for its action, saying it helped protect freedom and global safety. Some political observers believe that the strong support from Israel influenced the US decision to launch the strike.

Reports suggest that Iran might consider responding to the attack, possibly targeting American bases in nearby countries. Some experts say Iran will try to send a message without causing a massive conflict. In the meantime, the US warned Iran against launching any attacks on its soldiers or military bases. It said any such move would bring a powerful and destructive response.

As the situation develops, China has repeated its call for peace, respect for international law, and protection of innocent lives. The proposed resolution, which includes calls for dialogue and an end to sanctions, is expected to be debated at the UN very soon.
