Britain has announced a major new defence package for Ukraine, worth over £500 million. The deal includes advanced missiles and air defence systems aimed at helping Ukraine defend itself against ongoing attacks.
UK Approves Major Defence Package Support
A portion of this defence package, £150 million, will be used to support Nato’s prioritised Ukraine requirements list, or Purl. This programme is designed to ensure that critical defence equipment, such as air defence missiles, can reach Ukraine quickly. The remaining £390 million of the defence package will fund the delivery of 1,000 lightweight multirole missiles, which are manufactured in Belfast.
This announcement comes as the UK hosts meetings in Brussels with Nato defence ministers and members of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, which includes more than 50 nations. The meetings aim to coordinate defence support and ensure that Ukraine receives the equipment it needs efficiently.
