On the morning of March 11, Moscow witnessed one of the largest drone attacks in its history. A wave of drones targeted the Russian capital, forcing air defense systems into action. Explosions echoed throughout the city as emergency crews responded to fires and structural damage caused by the assault.

Massive Drone Attack Shakes Moscow

Reports indicate that at least 91 drones were intercepted over Moscow and its surrounding areas, with many crashing into residential buildings, railway infrastructure, and commercial zones.

The attack resulted in significant damage and casualties. A security guard lost his life when wreckage from a drone strike ignited a fire in a parking lot, consuming more than 20 vehicles. At least eight people, including two children, were injured due to the blasts and falling debris. Residents reported loud explosions, shattered windows, and the smell of burning materials as emergency services worked to contain the chaos.

Authorities temporarily suspended flights at four major Moscow airports—Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky—to prevent further risk. Meanwhile, several train routes were also affected after a drone strike disrupted railway services near the Domodedovo railway station.

Destruction Across the Moscow Region

The drone attacks caused widespread destruction across multiple locations in Moscow and its surrounding areas. In Domodedovo, drone debris struck a high-rise residential building, leaving parts of its structure damaged. Near the railway station, another drone’s wreckage disrupted train movement, halting services between Moscow and the sur

rounding regions.

A dramatic drone attack occurred in Ramenskoye, where a drone crashed into the top floor of an apartment building. The impact sparked a fire that spread through at least seven apartments. Fortunately, no residents were injured, but the affected families suffered extensive property damage. Firefighters managed to control the blaze before it could spread further.

In the city of Vidne, another drone attack struck an apartment complex, leading to a fire on the upper floors. Residents were forced to evacuate as emergency crews battled the flames. Similarly, in the cottage village of Vysoky Bereg, a private house caught fire after being struck by a drone. The structure was severely damaged, but no casualties were reported.

In Chernogolovka, the remains of a downed drone were discovered near a high-rise building. Though no injuries were reported, the presence of drone wreckage in a densely populated area raised concerns about civilian safety. Lytkarino residents also reported hearing explosions, followed by a car alarm siren echoing through the streets.

One of the most terrifying incidents occurred in the town of Sapronov, where a drone attack caused significant destruction. A drone crashed into an apartment on the 20th floor, and the force of the impact shattered windows, broke furniture, and ripped cabinet doors off their hinges. A woman and her family, who were asleep at the time, managed to escape with their pets before the situation worsened. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the blast left their home in ruins.

Hundreds of Drones Target Russian Territory

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the drone attack extended beyond Moscow, affecting multiple regions across western Russia. Officials claim that a total of 337 drones were intercepted overnight. The Kursk region reportedly faced the largest number of drone strikes, with 126 drones shot down.

Other affected areas included:

  • Bryansk region – 38 drones intercepted.
  • Belgorod region – 25 drones intercepted.
  • Ryazan region – 22 drones intercepted, including an attack on the Dyagilevo military airfield.

Kaluga, Lipetsk, Oryol, Voronezh, and Nizhny Novgorod regions – A combined total of 37 drones intercepted.

Military analysts described this as one of the most intense drone offensives Russia has faced. The Dyagilevo airfield in Ryazan, a key military installation, suffered at least 10 drone strikes, with residents reporting multiple explosions. While air defense systems managed to prevent further damage, the attack highlighted growing security risks across Russian airspace.

Authorities continue to assess the full impact of the assault. Residents remain on edge as emergency crews work to repair damage and restore essential services.
