Russian forces launched widespread attacks on various regions of Ukraine, causing massive destruction and loss of life. These attacks took place over the past 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people and injuries to 39 others. The assaults involved both missile strikes and drone attacks, targeting residential areas, energy facilities, and critical infrastructure across several regions.

Widespread Missile and Drone Strikes

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 112 drones overnight. Most of these were Shahed-type drones, known for their long range and explosive payloads. Ukrainian defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 68 of them before they could reach their intended targets.

In addition to the drones, Ukrainian forces also shot down two ballistic missiles. These missiles were believed to be either Russian Iskander-M or North Korean KN-23 models, both capable of carrying heavy warheads with high precision. The interception of these missiles was seen as a significant achievement by Ukrainian air defense units.

However, 43 drones disappeared from radar without causing visible damage. Military analysts suggest these were likely decoy drones meant to confuse and overload Ukraine’s defense systems. This tactic increases the chance of real drones slipping through and highlights the evolving and complex nature of Russian aerial assaults.

Destruction in Major Cities

One of the hardest-hit areas in this wave of attacks was Kryvyi Rih, located in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. A powerful missile strike targeted a hotel in the city during the night, resulting in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to at least 30 others, including a child. Rescue operations were still in progress as emergency responders continued to search for survivors amid the rubble.

The attack caused extensive structural damage. Fourteen apartment buildings suffered damage, and nearly two dozen vehicles were also affected. Additionally, a local post office was hit, and the blast caused damage to a cultural center and 12 small retail shops in the area. The widespread destruction in Kryvyi Rih disrupted not only residential life but also commercial and public services.

Further north, in Sumy, a drone strike killed one person, contributing to the growing number of civilian casualties in that region. In Odesa Oblast, two individuals were injured during another drone attack. That assault destroyed two residential homes and severely damaged an energy facility crucial to maintaining power supplies in the area.

The strike on the energy facility is particularly concerning, as such infrastructure is vital for hospitals, schools, and public services. Disruption of electricity in Odesa could lead to challenges in delivering essential services, further complicating life for civilians already coping with the consequences of the war.

Attacks Across Multiple Regions

In Donetsk Oblast, the village of Novoolenivka experienced renewed aggression. One civilian was killed and two others injured during an attack. This village has been under frequent assault in recent months, making it one of the most at-risk communities in the region.

Meanwhile, in Kharkiv Oblast, a drone strike near the town of Derhachi resulted in a house and car catching fire. One man lost his life, and a woman was injured in the incident. The fire led to the complete destruction of the property, leaving the affected family without shelter.

Kherson Oblast faced some of the most widespread attacks, with 27 settlements coming under fire. The regional center, Kherson city, was among the areas targeted. The strikes killed one person and injured four others. The constant shelling has disrupted daily life and created severe risks for residents across the region.

These widespread attacks underscore the continuing intensity of the conflict. With damage mounting across residential zones, public buildings, and energy infrastructure, Ukrainian authorities remain under pressure to protect civilians while managing emergency response and recovery operations.
